Overpopulation

According to UN projections, world population is likely to grow from 6,3 billion now to about 9 billion by 2050. Due to this increase of population we will have to deal with the serious problem of overpopulation which will affect our planet more and more and will bring dramatic transformations to our societies.
The majority of world’s population will live in the cities. Megacities will grow like mushrooms and their inhabitants will have to face hardships: very crowded cities do not have, and in the future it will be worse, enough jobs, clean drinking water or living space for all. Their green areas will be destroyed. Forests and natural habitats will die. Heavy traffic will be one of the worst urban problems and the consequences will be dramatic: high levels of pollution, changes in atmospheric composition and the consequent global warming and increased incidence of respiratory infection diseases…
The migratory movements from the developing nations will try to enter old Europe
but unemployment will grow and millions will live in slums without electricity or running water. There will be scarcity of products. The unemployed will beg on the streets and the gap between the rich and the poor will be great, leading to riots and violence. The inequality will be appalling.
In my view, I’m not very optimistic about this scenario. I think the best solution for the problem of overpopulation will be education, respect for our planet, fair population control policies, birth control and restrain of over consumption.
